Your Rowan County Public Library is happy to provide notary public services free of charge.
With several notaries on staff, someone is generally available to notarize your documents seven (7) days a week. However, because things can get busy and individual hours may fluctuate, we cannot always guarantee that one of our notaries is on site. To ensure that you can meet with a library notary, please try and call ahead to make an appointment, if possible. Remember that appointments can be made even on Saturdays!
When you come to have something notarized, you will need several things. Please be sure to bring along the following:
- The documents you need notarized
- A government-issue photo ID (such as a driver’s license, passport, military ID, etc.)
- Your current full address of residence and proof of residence (if not present on ID)
These materials will be required for all parties involved in the notarization.
Whoever assists you will escort you to a private room, if necessary, to conduct your notarization and record the appropriate information. If you haven't called ahead to make an appointment, there may be a brief waiting period while staff finish helping other patrons or while a suitable location is arranged, in the event that our study rooms and conference room are occupied at the time of your visit.
Important: Please note that, due to legal liability issues, the library unfortunately cannot offer notary services with regard to motorized vehicles of any kind, including (but not limited to) automobiles, ATVs, or boats.
