Programs & Classes

Your Rowan County Public Library is more than just books. As society and technology evolve, libraries are evolving with them, and are becoming even more about creating community than ever before. While information, education, and preservation of knowledge remain our primary responsibilities, modern libraries also serve their patrons in a variety of other exciting ways: Programming and activities, classes, technology assistance, learning-oriented events, outreach to schools, and more! We’re glad to offer a variety of services that go beyond maintaining our collections, including (but not limited to!):

  • weekly children’s programs like after school storytime and LEGO® club
  • monthly teen programs like our anime club
  • weekly dulcimer classes with Morehead Mountain Dulcimers
  • twice-weekly technology classes with open group discussion or guided topics like learning about specific software or exploring computer basics
  • movie nights for kids and families, for teens, and for adults that range from classics to anime
  • crafting for children and adults that runs from activities with old books to painting, coloring, and more
  • weekly chess club meetings
  • coding courses for kids and teens
  • our LitWits and Chow Club book groups
  • and lots more!
