Board of Trustees

Your Rowan County Public Library’s Board of Trustees is comprised of volunteers from the community who give their time to assist in the library’s administrative functions and who help to make major decisions about our spending and policies on behalf of everyone in our service area. The principal function of the Board is to lead the Rowan County Public Library District to fulfill its mission through planning, policy-making, development of financial and community support, and monitoring results.

The primary responsibilities of Board Members are:

  • To attend and participate in all board meetings/support board decisions
  • To be an advocate for the library
  • To plan for the future by determining library purposes and goals
  • To secure adequate funds/assist in the preparation of the annual budget
  • To know the needs of the library in relation to the community

Meetings

The Board meets at 3pm on the third Wednesday of every month in our conference room. All meetings are open to the public. For more information, please contact our Executive Director at director@rowancountylibrary.org or (606) 784-7137.

Apply to Join the Board

If you are interested in becoming a library Board member, you can apply by downloading the application below and returning it to the library, or by emailing it to our Executive Director. Any resident of Rowan County is eligible to apply. The Board would like to encourage motivated professionals within the county to submit an application.

Candidates must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Legally reside within Rowan County
  • Demonstrate commitment to the provision of excellent library service throughout the district
